Foreword
GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) is a regional organization which consists of the national standardization bodies of GCC member states. One of GSO main functions is to issue Gulf Standards and Technical Regulations through specialized technical committees.
GSO Technical Council
in its meeting number (60) held
on 23/10/1446 H,
which corresponds to 22/04/2025, has approved
the translation of
the
Technical Amendment
for
the document
GSO 9:2022/Amd1:2025
as a Gulf
Technical Regulation
titled "Labeling of prepackaged food stuffs" in
English
language
which was studied
through
the technical program of
GSO Technical Subcommittee for Food Labels
(TC05-SC1)
in BAHRAIN schedule
.
(Arabic) text is considered the official text in case of any conflicts between the two.

Amendment 1:
Amend item (4.1), page 4 as follows:
4.1The packaged food item shall not be described or displayed on a label or explanatory data, whether in writing, pictures, or any other method, which indicates, directly or indirectly, that it is another food item, which may lead to confusion between them, or in any way that makes the consumer believe that this food is related to another product. , or that it has special features that are not available in similar products.
Add a new item (7.1.7):
7.1.7It may as additionally (and not as a substitute for the written labelling card), to provide the data required in this standard and any other details related to the product in the form of electronic codes, and it must comply with the requirements on the labelling card.
